BABYS FIRST PISTOL AFFIRMATION CELEBRATION

This was a fun 2 day shoot. We had 3 Canons running.  Shot all of the solo performances with 2 cameras on each side. Giving me the ability to flash & create some spinning action during the drum fill sections. It’s a technique that I’ll master one day. Still working out the kinks. We had enough time to shoot an entire GoPro chest mount band POV sequence. It didn’t match the Canon footage so we ended up using it for promo teasers only.

The idea was to have one video flow into the next. Literally walking from one set to the other. With our very limited time frame with this space, we decided to shoot the 2nd video first & covered any pick up shots on the Mister CLEAN shoot night that was filmed a month later.

Went into this with a pretty decent game plan. Similar lighting set up as the Live Animals shoot. Had it boarded & worked out most of the angles. We even shot a bunch of GoPro footage of the bands’ POV that ultimately got cut due to quality matching. The idea of starting wide circles to end up with the band playing closer to each other was a conscious decision. Starting wide & ending close – always circling, always moving. Gimbal & locked off shots.

Had some much-needed help with Jenn Ferris & Angelo Barovier bringing their film set experience, making this easier to navigate.

There was a ton of downtime – almost 10 months between shooting & sharing.  Grateful for that space because I was able to take my time editing this video & fine-tuning all of the flashes, overlays & colour grades.

THE ONER

Although this isn’t edited as a “Oner,” the master footage from Baby’s First Pistol’s Affirmation Celebration is a one take from start to finish. I believe it was the 2nd of 3 full start to finish walk arounds.  Wanted to share the bare bones “heart” of this one.
